Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Lead the organisation's financial strategy and support the execution of long-term business objectives.
- Drive financial turnaround initiatives and sustainability strategies where required.
- Partner closely with executive leadership to support organisational growth and operational effectiveness.
- Provide strategic financial insights that inform key business decisions.
Financial Planning & Performance Management
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, FP&A, and scenario-planning processes.
- Develop meaningful financial models to support strategic initiatives and funding requirements.
- Monitor organisational performance and provide actionable recommendations to improve financial sustainability.
- Build robust reporting frameworks and management dashboards to support decision-making.
Funding & Stakeholder Engagement
- Support funding and donor engagement initiatives through robust financial planning and reporting.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure financial transparency and accountability.
- Assist leadership in evaluating growth opportunities, partnerships, and strategic projects.
- Prepare financial information and presentations for board and stakeholder meetings.
Financial Governance & Compliance
- Oversee annual financial statements, audits, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Strengthen financial controls, governance frameworks, and risk management processes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, donor, and reporting requirements.
- Drive improvements in financial reporting accuracy and operational controls.
Digital Transformation & Process Improvement
- Lead finance transformation initiatives focused on automation, efficiency, and scalability.
- Oversee system implementations and process optimisation projects.
- Leverage data, technology, and reporting tools to improve decision-making and operational performance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement across the finance function.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Build capability, accountability, and succession within the finance function.
- Foster collaboration across departments to support organisational objectives.
- Create a culture of innovation, ownership, and service excellence.
Requirements
Qualifications
- CA(SA) or CIMA qualification (essential).
- Completed SAICA or SAIPA Articles.
Experience
- Minimum 7 years' commercial finance experience.
- Previous NPO / NGO experience is essential.
- Proven funding and stakeholder engagement experience.
- Demonstrated success within strategic transformation, turnaround, or high-growth environments.
- Strong experience driving finance process improvement, automation, and systems implementation.
- Advanced FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling expertise.
- Experience leading finance teams and engaging with executive leadership and boards.
Technical Skills
- Advanced financial modelling capabilities.
- Strong data analysis and reporting expertise.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience developing executive dashboards and performance reporting frameworks.
- Strong understanding of governance, compliance, and financial controls.
