Job Summary
Our client is a well-established and fast-evolving player within the insurance industry. This confidential CFO role sits at an executive level and will partner closely with the CEO and Board to drive financial strategy, governance, and long-term sustainability of the business.
The successful incumbent will provide strategic financial leadership across the organisation, ensuring full compliance with regulatory frameworks, including IFRS, SAM, and applicable insurance legislation. You will oversee financial management, capital adequacy, solvency, and regulatory reporting, while enabling commercial decision-making through insightful financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to overall business strategy and decision-making.
- Provide financial insights to support product development, pricing, and expansion initiatives.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
- Ensure compliance with IFRS (including IFRS 17 & IFRS 9), SAM, and all regulatory requirements.
- Oversee submission of statutory returns and engagement with regulators (PA and FSCA).
- Manage capital adequacy, liquidity, and solvency within the SAM framework.
- Lead balance sheet optimisation and capital management strategy.
- Oversee tax, treasury, audit interactions, and funding relationships.
- Ensure strong internal controls, governance frameworks, and risk management practices.
- Collaborate with actuarial, risk, compliance, and audit functions.
- Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Present financial performance and insights to the Board, Audit Committee, and executive stakeholders.
Job Experience and Skills Required
- Chartered Accountant (SA) (non-negotiable).
- Postgraduate qualification (e.g. MBA) advantageous.
- Minimum 10 years’ senior financial management experience within the insurance industry.
- At least 5 years’ experience operating at CFO level.
- Strong experience within the insurance regulatory environment (PA and FSCA).
- Proven expertise in SAM, capital management, and regulatory reporting.
- Deep understanding of IFRS 17 and insurance finance principles.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with Boards and governance committees.
- Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and stakeholder engagement capability.
