Position Purpose
The Junior Accountant will be responsible for the accurate processing and administration of the company's day-to-day financial transactions while applying sound accounting principles to ensure the integrity of financial records.
Although the role is primarily transactional, the successful candidate must possess a solid understanding of accounting principles and the accounting cycle. They will be expected to understand the financial impact of transactions, identify discrepancies, support month-end activities, and provide accurate financial information to the Finance Manager and CFO.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable
Process supplier invoices accurately and timeously.
Verify invoices against purchase orders and supporting documentation.
Prepare supplier payment schedules.
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain supplier master data.
Assist with payment preparations.
Accounts Receivable
Prepare customer quotations, costings and invoices.
Allocate customer receipts.
Reconcile customer accounts.
Follow up outstanding debtors.
Investigate and resolve customer account queries.
Banking & Cashbook
Process daily banking transactions.
Perform bank reconciliations.
Maintain the cashbook.
Monitor cash receipts and payments.
Assist with petty cash reconciliations.
Financial Accounting Support
Prepare journals as required.
Prepare reconciliations and supporting schedules.
Support month-end and year-end close processes.
Assist with audit preparation.
Maintain accurate financial records.
Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
Assist the Finance Manager with financial reporting requirements.
Compliance
Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
Support statutory and tax compliance where applicable.
Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
Minimum RequirementsQualifications
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
Candidates studying towards SAIPA, CIMA, ACCA or a similar professional qualification will be advantageous.
Experience
3–5 years' experience in a finance or accounting environment.
Strong experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, banking and reconciliations.
Experience supporting month-end financial processes.
Experience using Sage, Xero or similar accounting software.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of accounting principles.

Salary
R22,000 – R25,000 CTC per month, depending on qualifications and experience.
