Job Summary
Our client, a leading payment aggregator and provider of secure payment solutions, is seeking a commercially driven Business Development Lead to acquire and grow strategic, high-volume biller relationships within their expanding team.
Based at their Stellenbosch offices, this role is focused on driving step-change growth in transaction volumes through excellent servicing of existing billers and the onboarding of new high-volume opportunities.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic and proactive self-starter with the ability to move confidently between strategic thinking and hands-on execution. They will be disciplined, tenacious, and motivated to see opportunities through to completion.
Role responsibilities:
- Drive transaction growth across existing billers and payment channels (retail and digital)
- Identify, source, and onboard new billers
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key biller stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor
- Develop and manage strategic partnerships (e.g. banks, referral partners)
- Identify and implement innovative solutions to grow their offering
- Serve as the primary liaison between billers/prospects and internal teams
- Collaborate with marketing to support and enhance their market presence
- Ensure smooth operational delivery for all biller-related activities
- Monitor, analyse, and report on sales performance, opportunities, and forecasts
Essential minimum qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- 5-8 years of similar experience in the payments/financial industry, with referenceable sales and enterprise-level client relationship management experience
- Strong understanding of the payments environment (retailers, digital, banking, card schemes, EFT, settlement, acquiring, etc.) is crucial to the role
- Valid driver’s license, own transport, and the ability to travel fairly often
- Fluent in business English; additional languages will be seen as beneficial
