Job Summary
The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, and providing financial insights to support business decision-making. This role involves overseeing daily accounting functions, preparing financial reports, managing budgets, and ensuring statutory compliance. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work independently while supporting management with accurate financial information. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger accounts Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Manage accounts payable and receivable Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and external stakeholders Monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities Support management with financial analysis and reporting Job Specification / Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Professional accounting qualification (SAIPA / SAICA / CIMA – advantageous) Minimum of 3–5 years’ accounting experience Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations Experience with accounting software (e.g. Sage, Pastel, Xero, or similar) Advanced Excel skills High level of accuracy and attention to detail Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and organisational skills Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure Competencies & Skills Financial analysis and reporting Time management and prioritisation Confidentiality and integrity Strong numerical aptitude Team player with the ability to work independently
