Job Summary
The Financial Manager is responsible for safeguarding the organisation’s financial health by delivering accurate reporting, managing cash flow, ensuring compliance, and embedding strong internal controls. This role partners closely with the CFO to align financial management with business strategy, provide insights for decision-making, and support organisational growth. The Financial Manager also leads and develops a small finance team, oversees statutory reporting, and manages financial risk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accurate financial statements, cash flow forecasting, and payments.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and the Companies Act.
- Design, implement, and monitor internal controls to mitigate risk and strengthen financial integrity.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and optimise ERP systems for efficiency and reporting.
- Provide financial insights to support strategic initiatives and long-term planning.
- Lead, coach, and develop the finance team to ensure high performance.
- Collaborate across departments to align financial objectives with business goals.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- CA(SA) preferred or CIMA
- Minimum 3 years as a Financial Manager or similar role
- Experience in manufacturing or retail preferred
- Experience with import/export advantageous
- Exposure to sub-Saharan African markets advantageous
- Advanced Excel and MS Office / Google Suite proficiency
- IFRS for SMEs knowledge
- Familiarity with ERP systems
- Understanding of Companies Act and South African tax regulations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Leadership and team management experience
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ethical and professional conduct
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
