Job Summary
Based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, this role offers direct exposure to executive leadership, reporting into the Director and CEO, and requires someone who is confident, detail-driven, and comfortable taking ownership in a dynamic retail environment.
This is a hands-on role for a finance professional who enjoys fixing, building, and improving; particularly within businesses that require structure, clean reporting, and system alignment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of day-to-day accounting operations within a retail-focused environment.
- Review, reconcile, and clean up financial records, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
- Manage month-end processes including journals, reconciliations, and balance sheet reviews.
- Prepare management accounts and support executive-level reporting.
- Drive process improvements and assist with accounting system implementations.
- Work closely with the Director and CEO, providing clear financial insight and support.
- Liaise with international stakeholders, including entities based in Mauritius.
- Manage foreign currency transactions and support cross-border reporting requirements.
- Ensure strong internal controls and accurate financial governance.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- BCom Degree in Accounting or Finance (essential).
- Completed SAICA articles (essential).
- 2–3 years’ post-articles experience within the retail industry OR
- Newly Qualified CA(SA) with strong retail client exposure during audit.
- Proven experience in cleaning up financial records and improving financial structures.
- Exposure to accounting system implementations or migrations (essential).
- Retail accounting experience (non-negotiable).
- Foreign currency and cross-border exposure advantageous.
- Strong technical accounting skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident communicator comfortable engaging with senior leadership and stakeholders.
