A well-established property investment group is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join its finance team. This opportunity is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day accounting function while ensuring the integrity of financial records, maintaining accurate reconciliations, and supporting month-end reporting processes.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing accounting activities across the property portfolio while working closely with stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Trial Balance Management

• Process and maintain accounting records up to trial balance.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of general ledger accounts.
• Process supplier invoices and ensure accurate coding and allocation.
• Maintain complete and accurate financial records across the portfolio.

Reconciliations & Financial Controls

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile intercompany loan accounts across multiple group entities.
• Review and reconcile creditor statements and resolve reconciling items.
• Ensure all balance sheet accounts are accurately reconciled and supported.
• Maintain strong financial controls and governance procedures.

Property Accounting

• Manage utility reconciliations, including water, electricity, and tenant recoveries.
• Process and monitor intercompany transactions.
• Ensure the accuracy of property-related financial information.
• Support the financial administration of multiple properties within the portfolio.

Month-End Reporting

• Perform month-end procedures, including:
  • Journals
  • Accruals
  • Prepayments
  • Intercompany entries
• Assist with management reporting and month-end close activities.
• Ensure reporting deadlines are met accurately and timeously.

Systems & Reporting

• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial information on the MDA Property Management System.
• Utilise Power BI to support reporting and financial analysis requirements.
• Assist in enhancing reporting efficiency and data visibility across the finance function.

Requirements

Qualifications

• BCom Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a similar accounting role.
• Previous property industry experience is essential.
• Strong accounting experience up to trial balance.
• Exposure to multi-entity accounting environments will be advantageous.

Technical Skills

• MDA Property Management System experience (essential).
• Power BI experience (essential).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
• Excellent reconciliation and problem-solving skills.
