An exciting opportunity has become available for a Financial Accountant to join a well-established organisation operating within a technical and project-driven environment. This role offers broad exposure across financial reporting, cost analysis, budgeting, compliance, and operational finance, making it ideal for a hands-on individual looking to make a meaningful contribution to the business.
Working closely with management, you will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity, supporting business performance, and providing the insights needed to drive informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Manage the full accounting function from source documentation through to management reporting.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of financial transactions.
• Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments, and month-end accounting adjustments.
• Compile trial balances, management accounts, and supporting schedules.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Assist with annual audit requirements and audit preparation.

Cash Flow, Debtors & Creditors

• Oversee cashbook processing and reconciliations.
• Manage debtor and creditor functions to ensure accurate and timely processing.
• Monitor cash flow and support effective working capital management.
• Ensure financial obligations are met within agreed timelines.

Compliance & Financial Controls

• Manage VAT submissions and ensure ongoing SARS compliance.
• Maintain strong internal controls and financial governance processes.
• Support the continuous improvement of reporting accuracy and finance procedures.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting and regulatory requirements.

Commercial Finance & Analysis

• Perform job costing and profitability analysis across projects and operations.
• Assist management in understanding key cost drivers and financial performance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and planning activities.
• Provide meaningful financial insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.

Team Support & Leadership

• Supervise and support finance administration staff.
• Assist in developing efficient finance processes and procedures.
• Promote accountability, accuracy, and high standards across the finance function.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum 4 years' accounting experience.
• Proven experience managing the full finance function.
• Strong financial reporting and reconciliation experience.
• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
• Experience supporting annual audit processes.
• Costing, project accounting, or profitability analysis experience will be advantageous.

Technical Skills

• Sage Pastel Partner / Xpress.
• Sage Pastel Payroll.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Strong financial reporting and accounting knowledge.
• VAT and SARS compliance experience.
• Budgeting, forecasting, and job-costing exposure.
