An established organisation is seeking a commercially minded and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to take ownership of the full finance function within a business division. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, providing meaningful financial insights, ensuring compliance, and supporting the ongoing growth and success of the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial controls, and business partnering within a dynamic operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting

• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports, and variance analyses for leadership teams
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting processes in accordance with IFRS
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, income statement analyses, and supporting schedules
• Assist with annual external audit requirements and provide supporting documentation
• Prepare statutory financial statements and ensure compliance with relevant regulations

Budgeting and Forecasting

• Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with operational management
• Prepare rolling forecasts and cash flow projections, identifying financial risks and opportunities
• Monitor capital expenditure and report against approved budgets

Financial Management and Controls

• Maintain a strong internal control environment across financial processes
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll inputs, and treasury-related activities
• Manage working capital, including debtors, creditors, and inventory funding requirements
• Review and approve reconciliations, journals, and payment processes within delegated authority limits
• Ensure compliance with VAT, income tax, PAYE, and other statutory obligations

Business Partnering and Analysis

• Provide financial analysis and insights to support operational and commercial decision-making
• Evaluate financial performance against budgets, forecasts, and historical results
• Identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities, and provide actionable recommendations
• Support the preparation of business cases, investment proposals, and strategic initiatives

Governance and Compliance

• Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
• Maintain fixed asset registers and oversee depreciation processes
• Support compliance and verification processes through accurate financial reporting and record-keeping

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• CA(SA) qualification will be advantageous
• Minimum 5 years’ accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a Financial Accountant or similar role
• Experience working within an ERP environment (Syspro exposure advantageous)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African tax legislation
• Proven experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls
• Ability to analyse complex financial information and provide meaningful business insights
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
• High levels of accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
