Our client is a well-established and expanding organisation seeking an experienced
Financial Projects Manager to join their finance leadership team. Operating across multiple business units, the business requires a finance professional who can bridge the gap between strategy and execution, leading projects that enhance financial performance, strengthen governance, and improve operational efficiency.
Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, you'll play a key role in delivering business-critical initiatives, optimising finance processes, and ensuring the finance function remains aligned to the organisation's long-term strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Transformation & Project Delivery
- Lead and execute strategic finance projects across multiple business units and functions.
- Manage project lifecycles from planning and implementation through to completion.
- Drive finance transformation initiatives that improve efficiency, scalability, and business performance.
- Coordinate stakeholders, timelines, resources, and project deliverables to ensure successful outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, controls, reporting capabilities, and operational effectiveness.
Process Optimisation & Continuous Improvement
- Assess current finance processes and identify areas for enhancement and efficiency gains.
- Lead automation and standardisation initiatives across the finance function.
- Analyse operational challenges, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
- Support system enhancements and digital transformation projects that improve reporting and workflow efficiencies.
Financial Governance & Risk Management
- Support the enhancement and implementation of strong financial control environments.
- Ensure adherence to governance frameworks, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in strengthening financial reporting processes and maintaining data integrity.
- Support internal and external audits and oversee the implementation of audit recommendations.
Strategic Finance & Business Support
- Analyse financial information to identify key trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Support strategic planning initiatives through financial analysis and business insights.
- Contribute to financial reviews, reporting requirements, and organisational projects.
- Provide management with recommendations that support informed decision-making and business growth.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with finance, operational, and executive teams to deliver key strategic initiatives.
- Build strong working relationships across the business to ensure project alignment and buy-in.
- Lead, coach, and support project team members where required.
- Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Qualified CA(SA) (essential).
- Relevant Finance, Accounting, or Commerce degree.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Financial Management.
- Minimum 3 years' experience within project-focused finance, finance transformation, process improvement, or business optimisation environments.
- Proven track record managing cross-functional projects and engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience driving system implementations, automation projects, or operational improvement initiatives.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, governance, and risk management principles.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Project management experience within a finance environment.
- Exposure to process optimisation and finance transformation initiatives.
- Advanced reporting and financial analysis skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
