Reporting to the
Finance Manager, this role will play a critical part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day management of the finance function. The successful candidate will oversee core accounting operations, strengthen financial controls, lead finance team members, and provide reliable financial information that supports sound business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Manage the full accounting function and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting financial reports.
- Maintain the integrity of financial information and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Provide timely and accurate financial reporting to support management decision-making.
Month-End & Year-End Processes
- Oversee month-end and year-end close procedures.
- Perform account reconciliations and review financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with audit preparation and support external auditors throughout the audit process.
- Ensure financial deadlines are consistently met.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Management
- Oversee creditor and debtor functions to ensure efficient cash collection and payment processes.
- Monitor outstanding balances and resolve discrepancies proactively.
- Ensure suppliers and stakeholders are managed effectively and professionally.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Monitor cash flow requirements and assist with treasury management activities.
- Support forecasting and budgeting processes to ensure optimal working capital management.
- Identify and communicate potential cash flow risks and opportunities.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with VAT legislation and South African tax requirements.
- Assist with tax submissions, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls and statutory obligations.
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise and support finance staff in their daily responsibilities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Assist with performance management, coaching, and professional development initiatives.
Controls & Process Improvement
- Evaluate existing financial processes and identify opportunities for increased efficiency.
- Strengthen internal controls and promote best practices across the finance function.
- Support business initiatives aimed at improving operational and financial performance.
Business Partnering
- Work closely with management teams to provide financial insights and recommendations.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning activities.
- Support operational leaders with financial information to drive informed business decisions.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Completed Articles (SAIPA, SAICA, CIMA, or equivalent) will be highly advantageous.
- Professional accounting or finance designation advantageous.
Experience
- 5-7 years' experience within accounting and finance environments.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a senior accounting or supervisory capacity.
- Proven ability to prepare management accounts independently.
- Strong experience managing month-end and year-end reporting processes.
- Previous experience leading or supervising finance teams.
- Experience within a multi-branch or multi-site environment would be advantageous.
Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Strong ERP and accounting systems experience.
- Solid exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Sound knowledge of VAT requirements and South African tax legislation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate financial information effectively.
