Job Summary
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and supporting schedules.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals, and intercompany processing.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, including cash flow monitoring and debtor management.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
- Ensure adherence to internal financial controls, policies, and statutory requirements.
- Work closely with operational and project teams to provide financial support and insight.
- Maintain accurate and audit-ready financial records.
- Contribute to process improvements and system efficiencies within the finance function.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- BCom degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3–5 years’ experience in a Senior Accountant or similar accounting role.
- Proven experience working with BuildSmart (non-negotiable).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes.
- Experience in a project-based, construction, or engineering environment would be advantageous.
- High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional, accountable approach to work.
