- 1. Position Overview
Qualifications Relevant BCom Degree with Accounting
Experience 3–5 years accounting experience
Experience with general ledger, reconciliations and month-end processes
Experience in manufacturing / retail environment advantageous
Knowledge Accounting principles and financial reporting
ERP / Accounting systems
Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
VAT and statutory compliance requirements
After Hours Support / Standby Yes

The Accountant is responsible for supporting the Financial Controller in maintaining the accuracy, integrity and completeness of the company’s financial records. The role focuses on general ledger management, reconciliations, financial reporting support and statutory compliance, ensuring that financial information is reliable and produced within required deadlines. The Accountant acts as a key operational support to the Financial Controller, assisting with financial operations, resolving finance-related queries and ensuring finance processes run efficiently. |

- § Financial Accounting & Control Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded
- § Prepare and process journal entries and supporting documentation
- § Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
- § Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger
- Assist with maintaining strong internal financial controls ≤2% adjustments required post reporting cycle
- 100% reconciliations completed monthly
- § Month-End and Reporting Support the month-end close process
- § Prepare trial balances and assist with management reporting
- § Perform financial analysis and investigate anomalies where required
- Assist with financial information required by management Month-end reporting delivered within agreed timelines
- § Banking and Payments Prepare bank reconciliations and investigate reconciling items
- § Assist with payment preparation and banking administration
- Manage employee credit card reconciliations and related queries Payment preparation completed within agreed payment cycles
- Bank reconciliations completed monthly with no unreconciled items older than 30 days
- § Statutory Compliance Assist with VAT and statutory submissions
- § Maintain supporting documentation for tax and regulatory requirements
- Assist in preparing documentation for external audits and regulatory reviews 100% statutory submissions completed on time
- § Financial Operations Support Provide support to the Financial Controller with financial analysis and ad hoc reporting
- § Assist departments with finance-related queries
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy Finance queries resolved within agreed turnaround times
- § Continuous Improvement Contribute to improving finance processes and efficiencies
- § Support system improvements within the finance function
