Job Summary
Are you a qualified Millwright who enjoys leading from the front? Our client is a well-established and highly respected manufacturer within the packaging industry, supplying products into the FMCG and food sectors. They are looking for an experienced. Maintenance Supervisor to join their engineering team and play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of a modern, high-speed manufacturing facility. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who still enjoys being hands-on while developing their leadership career. The role offers a balance of approximately 60% technical maintenance 40% supervision, planning and team leadership. The Role Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will supervise a team of approximately 20 people ensuring planned and breakdown maintenance is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. The plant operates a variety of automated production equipment including extrusion, forming and packaging machinery, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities
Supervise, coach and develop the maintenance team Allocate work, monitor progress and ensure quality of completed maintenance.
Lead by example with a hands-on approach to mechanical and electrical fault finding.
Coordinate planned preventative maintenance programmes.
Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
Diagnose faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and automation systems
Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives. Manage maintenance housekeeping and 5S standards Work closely with Procurement to ensure critical spares are available Maintain maintenance records and reporting Conduct first-line performance management and discipline where required.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company standards.
Requirements
Qualified Millwright (Red Seal)
5-10 years' maintenance experience within an FMCG manufacturing environment (see more information about Industry / Experience)
3-5 years' supervisory or team leadership experience
and mechanical fault-finding ability
Experience with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation.
Knowledge of Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), hydraulics and pneumatics. Experience working on high-speed production equipment.
Computer literate Highly Desirable Industry Experience Preference will be given to candidates from:
Plastic packaging manufacturing
Film extrusion
PET manufacturing
PVC processing
Thermoforming
Blow moulding
Flexible packaging
Candidates from other high-speed FMCG manufacturing environments will also be considered, including:
Food manufacturing
Beverage production
Can manufacturing
Other continuous manufacturing operations (automated environment)
