Position Project Manager

Location Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and successfully delivering fabrication and engineering projects from contract award through to final handover. The role is accountable for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, to the required quality standards, and in accordance with contractual obligations.
The role requires effective coordination between Engineering, Procurement, Production, QA/QC, Stores, Painting, Finance, and the Client, to ensure successful project execution while maintaining strong customer relationships and achieving project profitability.
Plan, coordinate, and manage fabrication and engineering projects from contract award through to final handover.
Achieve 95% of project milestones on time and ensure practical completion is met on or before the contractual completion date.
Issue weekly schedule updates and implement recovery plans immediately when delays occur.
Manage project costs to ensure the final project cost remains within the approved budget.
Control material and labour costs, and ensure approved variation orders are recovered.
Achieve a final gross margin within ±5% of the tendered/estimated margin.
Ensure projects comply with client specifications and exceed customer expectations.
Maintain zero major client non-conformance reports (NCRs) and less than 2% internal rework.
Ensure QA inspections pass first time and maintain positive client feedback throughout the project lifecycle.
Conduct weekly project meetings and maintain daily communication with Production where required.
Maintain updated action lists and provide clients with weekly progress updates.
Inform internal departments of schedule changes within 24 hours.
Review the risk register weekly and identify project risks early.
Submit variations for approval before additional work begins, and escalate project issues promptly.
Implement recovery plans where required to keep projects on track.
Maintain a minimum of 98% on-time attendance each month with no unauthorized absences or repeated late arrivals.
Comply fully with company policies, procedures, the Code of Conduct, Safety Rules, and Disciplinary Code.
Maintain professional conduct, honesty, integrity, and accountability at all times, and immediately report misconduct, unsafe acts, or procedural breaches.
Acknowledge internal emails, Microsoft Teams/WhatsApp messages, or direct requests within 1 working hour (or by the start of the next working day if received after hours).
Foster cooperation, mutual respect, and support between colleagues and departments, maintaining a supervisor/teamwork rating of at least 4 out of 5.
Attend 100% of scheduled meetings, or provide prior notice if unable to attend.
Identify and implement a minimum of two process or performance improvements annually.
Contribute to improving project planning templates, reporting timelines, communication systems, and the project close-out process.

A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
Proven experience managing fabrication and/or engineering projects from award through to handover.
Sound knowledge of project scheduling, cost control, and quality management principles (ISO 9001 exposure advantageous).
Strong planning, coordination, and organisational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with clients and internal departments.
Sound understanding of risk and change management processes.
High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects/stakeholders simultaneously.
