Areas of Responsibilities
1. Business Development and Support
a. Assists with business development (marketing) in the region with the support of the Sales Team
b. Contributes to the Company’s annual business and strategic plan.
c. Arranges customer visits/functions in order to promote the Company.
d. Ensure clear agreement of customer objectives and that these are met or exceeded.
e. Manages the submission of tenders and compliance to company policies.
2. Management, Internal Project Management, Health and Safety, Administration and Quality Management Procedures
a. Responsible for the management and administrative procedures of the department including the appointment of suitably qualified staff as required.
b. Comply with company procedures and processes in terms of project registration and risk analysis.
c. Comply with Quality procedures by ensuring auditable trail of actions during full life cycle of project delivery process all in accordance with company Quality Management Procedures.
d. Comply with and embrace Health and Safety requirements in the work place as well as on construction sites.
3. Project Delivery
a. Provides project support to Office Manager, Regional Business Manager as well as to Project Managers.
b. Manages and coordinates assigned projects cost effective (as per the job description for Project Managers).
c. Ensure that iX project start-up processes are followed and the project scoping is clear and approved.
d. Supervice, prepare and evaluate alternative concept designs, prepare reports and esitmates and liaise with other professionals, both internally and externally.
e. Supervice and develop detail designs, manage the preparation of drawings and prepare tender documentation.
f. Facilitate and assist with the tender and adjudication process leading up to contractor appointment and site hand over.
g. If required, act as the project discipline Lead Engineer.
h. Monitor and manage construction activities including:
i. Attending site and inspection meetings.
ii. Managing changes to work scope.
iii. Managing installation quality and compliance with specifications.
iv. Managing contract finances including valuations and payment certifications.
v. Managing and witnessing testing and commissioning of works.
vi. Managing close out of project.
4. Training and Mentoring
a. Participating in continuous professional development training in order to maintain professional registration.
b. Assisting with training and mentoring of others who are registered as in-training engineers/technologists.
5. Leadership and Relations
a. Maintain good working relations with all stakeholders, both internal and external to the Company, and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
b. Interact with leaders and peers in such a way to command respect and to grow leadership skills.
c. Facilitate and develop positive relationships in the department and ensure that acceptable levels of ergonomics are maintained.
d. Ensure that the department administrative matters are dealt with effectively and timeously.
e. Manage the target budget for the department.

Education, Language & Qualifications:
B.Tech / B. Eng degree.
Professional Registration with ECSA.
Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills. Fluent spoken and written English.
PMP® and or Pr.CPM qualification/registration will be an atvantage.
RSA drivers licence and own transport/vehicle for site/meeting use.
Essential Knowledge, skills and Experience:
Technical and practical engineering skills in the Public Infrastructure Sector.
A sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the discipline, and the basic requirements of other disciplines.
People skills / Ability to manage and motivate teams.
Proven ability to execute designs, work as part of a team.
Diligent and able to work under consistent pressure to meet deadlines.
Design accuracy and attention to detail is crucial.
Good problem-solving skills and application of engineering judgement.
Business development and marketing skills / Client focused (both internal and external clients).
Good financial acumen in project planning, control, and execution.
A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements
A sound knowledge of MS OFFICE software is essential such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Projects etc.
A working knowledge of the various construction framework contracts is preferred.
A minimum of 15 years technical and practical experience, post qualification, in Public Infrastructure projects including management talent. A minimum of 10 years technical and practical experience post ECSA registration.
