Introduction

An expanding business within the steel fabrication industry is looking for a skilled and hands-on Draughtsman to join its growing team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to contribute to product development, design improvements and the introduction of new products, particularly within the off-road vehicle accessories market.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Create, update and maintain accurate and detailed CAD drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks.

• Prepare, manage and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOM).

• Work closely with the production team to ensure products are manufactured according to design specifications.

• Provide technical support and assist with troubleshooting production-related challenges.

• Be actively involved in the practical production process and gain hands-on knowledge of the products being designed.

• Assist with handling customer enquiries, including telephone and walk-in clients.

• Contribute to product development, design improvements and the introduction of new products.

• Ensure all technical drawings and documentation are accurate, complete and up to date.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

• Proven practical experience using SolidWorks is essential.

• Relevant qualification in Draughting, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field will be advantageous.

• Good understanding of technical drawings, manufacturing processes and product design.

• Experience with Bills of Materials (BOM).

• Strong technical and problem-solving abilities.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• The ideal candidate will be technically minded, practical and hands-on, with a genuine interest in product design and development.

• This is not a traditional office-based draughting position. The successful candidate must be comfortable stepping away from the computer and getting involved in the actual production process, understanding the products and assisting with practical challenges.

Package & Remuneration

R25 000 – R30 000 per month, depending on qualifications and experience
