Laser Operator Assistant
Location: Pietermaritzburg
Our client is seeking a motivated and reliable Laser Operator Assistant to join their manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be energetic, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment. Candidates with a technical aptitude and experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment will be highly advantageous.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric (advantageous)
- Valid Forklift Licence
- Technical understanding of laser cutting processes
- Ability to read measurements and interpret technical drawings
- Experience using power tools, particularly grinders
- Ability to use measuring equipment, including tape measures and Vernier calipers
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment
- Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and supervisors
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong organisational and prioritization skills
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Laser Operator with daily production activities
- Operate a forklift safely and efficiently
- Operate overhead cranes as required
- Load and offload metal sheets onto and off the laser cutting bed
- Inspect the quality of laser-cut components
- Remove finished parts and place them in designated storage racks
- Perform basic housekeeping duties within the department
- Adhere to all company health and safety procedures
- Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and productive work environment
