A well-established and internationally active engineering-focused organisation is seeking an experienced International & Local Engineering Components Buyer to join its procurement team. This role offers the opportunity to work within a fast-paced environment where procurement excellence, supplier management, and supply chain efficiency are critical to operational success.
Key ResponsibilitiesSource and procure specialised engineering and technical components from both local and international suppliers.
Manage the full procurement cycle, including supplier selection, quotations, purchase orders, and order tracking.
Coordinate import procurement activities, including shipping, customs documentation, and logistics management.
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring supplier performance, quality, pricing, and delivery timelines.
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements to achieve cost savings and maximise value.
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, ensuring continuity of supply and minimal disruption to operations.
Collaborate closely with engineering, production, quality, and operational teams to ensure purchased components meet technical requirements.
Monitor market trends, supplier developments, and international trade factors that may impact procurement activities.
Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
Utilise ERP and inventory management systems to support procurement planning and stock control.
Minimum RequirementsMinimum 5 years' procurement experience within an engineering, manufacturing, industrial, or related technical environment.
Demonstrated experience in international sourcing, imports, logistics coordination, and supplier management.
Strong understanding of import procurement processes and international supply chain operations.
Experience negotiating with local and international suppliers.
Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement-related software.
Valid driver's licence.
Advantageous Qualifications & ExperienceDiploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
Experience managing foreign suppliers and foreign currency procurement.
