Job Summary
Education: A National Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Draughting, or a related discipline is required. Typically, an associate degree or diploma in engineering design, mechanical drafting, or mechanical design is expected, with some employers also considering bachelor's degrees or certifications in CAD software.
Software Proficiency: Mandatory proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and Autodesk Inventor (3D) is essential. Additional skills in CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or Revit are advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have 1–2 years of experience in mechanical drafting, including internships, apprenticeships, or practical training that provide hands-on experience applying CAD skills in industry-specific contexts.
Core Responsibilities and Skills: The role requires the ability to develop and revise detailed mechanical drawings, General Arrangements (GAs), and assembly plans, interpret design sketches and specifications, and create accurate technical documentation.
