Job Summary
Company and Job Description:The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high‑quality technical drawings and 3D models that support the design, manufacturing, and fabrication of mechanical equipment. This position requires a meticulous draughtsperson who thrives in a structured, team‑oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed 3D parametric models using SolidWorks.
- Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings and complete, accurate manufacturing drawings.
- Create and update drawings for products such as feeders, sizers, apron feeders, reclaim feeders, and related mechanical assemblies.
- Ensure all drawings meet ISO 9001 documentation standards.
- Maintain drawing registers and adhere to both internal procedures and industry requirements.
- Collaborate with Design Engineers to resolve technical queries and ensure drawing accuracy.
- Provide regular feedback and progress reports to the Technical Manager.
- Support fabrication teams with precise documentation and clear technical information.
- Assist with design changes, continuous improvement projects, and troubleshooting technical issues.
Job Experience & Skills Required (Ideal Candidate Profile):
- 5+ years’ experience as a mechanical Design Draughtsman.
- 5+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering environments (manufacturing/fabrication).
- Diploma in Mechanical Draughting or an equivalent qualification.
- Proficient in SolidWorks (3D modelling) and AutoCAD (2D drafting).
- Strong focus on accuracy, detail, and drawing quality.
- Comfortable working within an ISO 9001 quality system.
- Experience in the mining sector will be advantageous.
- Ability to interpret complex technical specifications.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving ability.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- A methodical, organised approach to handling multiple drawing tasks.
