Job Summary
We are urgently looking to recruit an experienced and highly skilled Senior Electrician to join our hospitality team in Stellenbosch. The Senior Electrician is responsible for overseeing all electrical systems, installations, repairs, and maintenance across the hotel and associated buildings. The role ensures that all electrical infrastructure is safe, compliant, reliable, and operating efficiently. The Senior Electrician provides technical leadership to the maintenance team, supports preventative maintenance programmes, assists with projects and installations, and ensures electrical work is completed to the required standards. Key responsibilities Install; maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment across the hotel and associated facilities. Conduct preventative and corrective electrical maintenance to ensure all electrical systems remain safe, reliable, and efficient. Diagnose electrical faults and carry out timely repairs to minimise downtime and ensure uninterrupted hotel operations. Maintain and service electrical systems across guest rooms, kitchens, restaurants, offices, and other hospitality facilities. Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant safety standards, regulations, and required specifications. Supervise; guide, and provide technical support to junior electricians and maintenance staff. Respond promptly to electrical emergencies, breakdowns, and power failures, ensuring effective resolution. Maintain accurate maintenance records and report faults, defects, and required repairs. Work closely with the Maintenance and Management teams to coordinate electrical maintenance and support operational requirements. Assist with electrical installations, upgrades, refurbishments, and projects as required. Knowledge; skills and qualities Qualified Electrician with relevant electrical trade certification and industry qualifications. Minimum 5 years’ senior-level experience in electrical maintenance, preferably within a hospitality, hotel, lodge, resort, commercial, or large facilities environment. Wireman’s Licence preferred. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including low- and medium-voltage installations, equipment, and control systems. Excellent fault-finding, troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation. Sound knowledge of electrical safety regulations, health and safety requirements, and compliance standards. Previous supervisory experience with the ability to lead, guide, and mentor junior electricians and maintenance staff. High attention to detail with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance. Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet operational requirements. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including under pressure. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and respond to emergency call-outs when required. Valid driver’s license & own reliable transport.
