Job Summary
Qualification- Matric or equivalent NQF 4
- Relevant Trade Qualification (e.g. Diesel Mechanic, Fitter, or Heavy Vehicle/Trailer Technician Trade Test) or equivalent demonstrated competency
- Extensive experience (10 years+) working on heavy vehicle trailers, with specific experience on modular/abnormal load trailers (e.g. Goldhofer) preferred
- Proven track record diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, steering, and structural trailer systems
- Experience working in a trucking, transport, or abnormal load industry workshop
- Knowledge of health and safety, environmental, and quality standards relevant to trailer maintenance and repair
- Technical skills: in-depth knowledge of trailer systems and components - hydraulics, steering and self-tracking axles, suspension, braking, electrical systems, and structural components, particularly on Goldhofer modular trailers
- Diagnostic skills: ability to use specialised diagnostic tools and equipment to test, fault-find, and verify trailer system performance
- Hands-on repair and fabrication skills, including welding and structural repair where required
- Documentation skills: maintaining accurate technical records, job cards, and inspection reports
