Job Summary
The role — two senior profiles in scope:
Profile A — Senior Water / Wet Services Engineer
- ECSA Pr Eng (Civil or Mechanical), or demonstrably at registration standard with a dated, verifiable application in progress.
- 10+ years in water engineering, wet services, or water infrastructure consulting, with authored drawing sets and calculation packs you can walk through as your own.
- Groundwater abstraction and filtration/treatment delivery experience strongly weighted; fire protection depth valued.
- Evidence of mentoring engineers toward registration, and of holding client relationships through difficult conversations.
Profile B — Delivery Lead / Engineering Manager
- Pr Eng-calibre engineer from a consulting or EPCM environment who has owned delivery governance: design review gates, deliverable registers, commercial assurance on contracts.
- Fluent contractual literacy — JBCC essential; NEC/FIDIC valued: payment mechanics, retention, practical completion certification, claims and variations.
- Commissioning completions (plural) and a claims/variations record you can narrate in detail.
- Ran a self-contained package or area on a major project with your own commercial authority, or was the senior bench of a 20–50 person consultancy.
Key responsibilities:
Technical leadership
- Design responsibility and professional sign-off across wet services, water infrastructure, and (Profile B) delivery governance on all active engagements.
- Weekly design review with 24–48 hour red-pen turnaround on junior packages; calc-pack discipline (assumptions page, method statement, self-check, named checker).
- QA review gate on the water-audit product within six months of starting.
Practice building
- Standards, templates, standard details and design tools that become the firm's reference library.
- Formal ECSA mentorship for candidate engineers; a named development path for every engineer in your team.
- Market support: Company goes to market on your behalf — you shape which sectors we chase, and your delivery keeps the clients we win.
Commercial and delivery assurance
- Fee proposals, scope control and variations on your engagements; (Profile B) payment-claim interrogation, variation adjudication and practical-completion certification held in-house.
- Client trust-holding at senior level: difficult progress meetings, defending design decisions, delivering bad news early.
