Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Junior Draftsman to support the creation, revision, and maintenance of engineering drawings - primarily for aluminium sheet-metal components and assemblies. This role is ideal for a recent graduate with 1 years experience or early‑career drafter who is eager to learn and grow within an established engineering environment.
Working under the guidance of senior draftsmen and engineers, this individual will gradually gain exposure to multiple disciplines (machining, composites, electrical systems) but will spend most of their time producing highly accurate sheet‑metal manufacturing drawings and assembly documentation
Drafting Support for Sheet-Metal Components:
Create 2D drawings and 3D models of aluminium sheet-metal parts, brackets, ribs, skins, and small assemblies.
Develop flat patterns and CNC‑ready manufacturing data
Apply correct tolerancing, fastener specifications, and material callouts according to standards
Assembly Documentation:
Produce assembly drawings, exploded views, and installation illustrations
Update BOMs and component details in coordination with engineers
Ensure drawings are clear, complete, and easy for production teams to follow
Revision Control & Documentation Maintenance:
Update existing drawings as part of engineering changes, production feedback, or improvements
Maintain accurate revision histories within the company’s PDM system
Ensure drafting standards, templates, and conventions are applied consistently
Cross-Functional Support & Learning:
Assist senior draftsmen with tooling, composite, and electrical drawings when needed
Participate in design reviews and contribute simple modelling or drafting tasks
Provide drafting support to production, quality, and procurement as directed
Continuous Improvement:
Identify drawing improvements that reduce ambiguity, scrap, or rework.
Suggest updates to drawing standards and process workflows
Learn from feedback and coaching to progressively take on more complex design tasks
Essential requirements:
N4/N5 or higher in drafting, engineering, CAD, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Basic proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
Knowledge of drafting standards and techniques
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
Good at communicating written technical information
Preferred Skills:
Experience with SolidWorks PDM or other document management tools.
Understanding of sheet-metal fundamentals
Some knowledge of sheet-metal practices (riveting, forming, flanging)
Exposure to CNC manufacturing processes
Hands-on workshop or fabrication experience
