Open position : Senior Quality Engineer / Purchasing and Project Assistant Location : East London Salary : R22 000 – R28 000 Type : Permanent position Reporting to : Quality Manager
This function includes :
Being the Management's representative in matters concerning systematic quality, work environment and environmental work.
Applicable routines regarding systematic quality, work environment and environmental work are developed, introduced and maintained within the framework of the quality management system (internal and external).
Regarding the quality system :
Updates governing and accounting documents.
Target monitoring, reporting, KPI, work instructions, drawings, PQP, standards maintained
EHS, OHS, SHE rep and all relative requirements pertaining to these topics
Maintains a list of current laws and regulations, including a list of chemicals.
Supplier assessments of environmental & work environment-related suppliers.
DEX (deviations, improvement and measures).
Education for all staff in quality system
Purchase according to DOA.
Plan and implement internal quality and 5S audits.
Calibration of instruments, scales and test equipment etc.
ISO 9001-2015, 45000, 14000 implementation and maintenance
Other related duties include :
Testing of product and materials in production, incoming and finished product inspections according to requirements. Filing all results for audit control
Assignments assigned by the Production Manager/GM
Fire Protection Manager
Comply with laws and regulations, and perform control and follow-up.
Make sure that routines and guidelines are in place for inspection and maintenance of the fire protection.
Maintain control documents, written instructions and other aids for fire protection.
Follow-up routines for quality control of fire protection.
Disseminate information regarding the requirements and the established policy to be met.
Coordinate the fire protection work in the company.
Establish training plans to ensure fire protection / personal protection.
Issue permits for hot work.
File all relating documents for audit control
Fire Protection Inspector :
Organization, training and education.
Represent the company in external supervision.
Coordinate the fire protection routines within the premises.
Deficiencies in self-monitoring are reported for action and follow-up of the measures.
Documentation for risks and fire protection.
Self-inspection of fire protection, and report fire incidents.
Responsible for service of equipment.
Evacuation planning and evacuation exercise.
Medical box control, checks
Purchasing local and imported goods – JIT
Follow up on purchase orders, control lower order limits (Canban).
Keep all KPI boards updated and localized files updated weekly.
All ISO related requirements
Management review yearly reporting
Keep all KPI boards updated and localized files updated monthly, local and international news
Manage all monthly reporting – poor quality cost, material waste cost(scrap reporting), water, electricity etc
ERP system and file access into the quality manual
Duties related to Logistics (International)
Arrange the collection and delivery of 20/40 FT containers to and from the branch.
Smaller packages such as samples to be sent overseas, tools and spares from overseas etc all to collected and delivered in good time.
Obtain quotes from freight forwarders, ensure collection and delivery dates are as required.
Instructing freight forwarders to keep track with shipping lines to ensure timeous delivery and collections.
Keep a detailed and precise document trail of all imports and exports, Customs work sheet, SAD 500 and Customs EDI notifications must be sent to the bank.
This is a requirement when making payments to the various forex suppliers.
Logistics (Local) :
Arrange collections from local suppliers of raw material.
Ensure materials are delivered in time.
Prioritise materials that is currently needed in production.
Liaise with companies regarding pricing and transit times on a regular basis.
