Qualifications and Skills
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
- Grade 12
- Qualified Artisan: Electrical/Mechanical
- National Certificate: N6 Engineering Studies (Millwright/ Industrial Engineering)
- Valid Unendorsed Code 10 Driver’s License
- At least 5 years related experience
- Fluent in English
- Excellent Communication Skills (written & oral)
- Interpersonal relationship skills
- Self-management
- Expert Knowledge of the Electrical Installations
- Expert Knowledge of Generators and UPS’s is essential
- Mechanical (building) Maintenance experience is essential
- Expert Knowledge of Access Control Systems
- Expert Knowledge of CCTV Systems (would be an advantage)
- Planning and follow through of maintenance activities
- Basic Computer Literacy Skills
- Mechanical (building) Maintenance experience is essential
- The daily physical demands are those required to work on the route, inside, outside and on top of buildings/ladders.
- The Technician must be competent driver.
- A regular amount of overtime and standby duties to be performed.
- The work environment characteristics are those encountered on a typical highway and at the toll road environment, as well as at office buildings and within toll plaza lanes
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee and manage technicians that form part of the Department. Providing mentorship and guidance on performance and execution of daily duties Conduct daily and monthly inspections of all electrical, mechanical, access control, CCTV equipment and buildings at the plaza
- Repair all malfunctioning / damaged / broken equipment and buildings as per the Maintenance Manual/Standards
- Report all incidents in the prescribed manner
- Recordkeeping of all inspections in the prescribed manner.
- Ensure tools are kept in a good and clean working order.
- Comply with all health, safety and security policies and procedures at all times.
- Ensure that all equipment are in good working condition to ensure optimal performance and uptime
- Manage Subcontractor that perform work on site/at Plaza ensuring:
- Work is delivered as per the scope
- Ensure that quality is as per the standards and escalate to supervisor in case of noncompliance.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and policies and procedures and escalate to supervisor in the event of non compliance.
- Apply best practice principles for stock control at plaza.
- Timeous reporting as and when required.
