Job Summary
Our client is searching for an Auto Electrician to join their team in Akasia.
Purpose of the Role
The Auto?Electrician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, installing, and maintaining electrical systems and components on Side Tipper Trailers and Taut Liners, ensuring safe operation and minimal downtime of fleet equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults on trailers, including wiring, connectors, lights, sensors, and control systems.
- Fault find electrical circuits, CAN bus systems, wiring looms, and auxiliary electrical equipment.
- Conduct testing, servicing, and repair of alternator-powered accessories, starter systems, and battery circuits on trailers.
- Perform electrical inspections as part of preventative maintenance routines.
- Maintain and repair electrical systems on Side Tipper Trailers, including hydraulic control harnesses, side marker circuits, rear lighting, ABS/EBS modules, and monitoring systems.
- Maintain electrical systems on Taut Liner trailers, including curtain side safety lights, rear clusters, cable routing, plug and socket connections, and load monitoring sensors.
- Install and test electrical components such as LED lighting, beacons, reverse buzzers, tracking sensors, and auxiliary systems.
- Repair or replace damaged cables, connectors, fuses, and junction boxes.
- Complete job cards, service reports, and technical documentation accurately.
- Ensure all work meets health, safety, and quality standards.
- Support the workshop team with technical information and assist where required.
Minimum Requirements
- Qualified Auto Electrician (Trade Test / Red Seal preferred).
- 3–5 years’ experience as an Auto Electrician, preferably with trailers or commercial fleets.
- Strong diagnostic skills and ability to work independently.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
