Job Summary
A leading animal feed manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Stock Controller with strong experience in inventory control, stock reconciliation and production administration to join their team in Viljoenskroon. The role is responsible for the overall administration of production inventories, processing orders, monitoring stock levels and coordinating the replenishment of required materials.
Responsibilities:
- Control raw material, premix and medication inventory levels.
- Monitor usage rates of all production inventory commodities.
- Initiate and coordinate inventory replenishment with the Procurement Department.
- Confirm that requested orders are placed on Syspro by the Procurement Department.
- Expedite the delivery of orders placed.
- Coordinate surplus or obsolete inventory items for re-application or disposal.
- Source new commodities when required by the formulation process.
- Ensure all required approvals and documentation are completed according to procedure and maintain an organised filing system.
- Coordinate stock count dates and count teams.
- Scrutinise daily stock count sheets to identify errors, omissions and missing verification signatures.
- Maintain a daily inventory control spreadsheet comparing theoretical inventory levels with physical stock counts.
- Maintain backup schedules indicating volume calculations for stored materials, including bins, bunkers, silos, containers and stored bags.
- Investigate stock discrepancies and escalate major variances to Factory Management for justification and corrective action.
- Update Syspro with final reconciled month-end physical count figures.
- Generate and reconcile final stock variance reports.
- Summarise monthly production by product code and daily production volumes, including bulk, bags and tubs.
- Maintain Excel spreadsheets for issues, receipts and variance patterns and populate daily graphs.
- Complete daily loss-control stock sheets, critical stock, bunker and silo reconciliations, and distribute daily production statistics to relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct regular plant walkabouts to ensure accurate stock levels are maintained.
- Reconcile daily production data with raw material issues and update issues on Syspro.
- Maintain inventory-related statistics, including issues, purchases, transfers and variance patterns.
- Process GRNs for raw materials and raw material transport.
- Ensure raw materials and transport are recorded against the relevant orders and balance with GRNs on Syspro.
- Balance orders with GRNs on Syspro.
- Generate purchase orders for production-related items such as empty tubs, packing materials, new bags and bag tickets.
- Provide cover for other production administration staff when absent.
- Participate in weekly stock counts.
- Adhere to all ISO safety regulations, standards and applicable legislation as per company policy.
- Support Administration Management with month-end procedures and ad hoc tasks.
- Prevent wastage and ensure compliance with housekeeping procedures.
- Transfer stock to other mills.
Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12.
- 5 years’ relevant experience in an FMCG environment.
- Excellent computer literacy.
- Experience with Syspro.
- Competency in business administration.
- Knowledge of the logistics value chain.
- Knowledge of purchasing.
- Strong inventory control capabilities.
- Strong administrative efficiency.
- Basic accounting knowledge.
