Job Summary
Senior Structural Engineer
The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for delivering specialised engineering services to iX Engineers and its clients across a variety of projects. This includes design, construction monitoring, and project management duties, while actively supporting the wider iX Engineers business, its values, and vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage structural engineering projects from initiation through to detailed design, tender documentation, contractor appointment, and construction oversight.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to candidate engineers and technologists, fostering professional development and technical excellence.
- Ensure compliance with local and international standards, statutory and regulatory requirements, and internal quality and health and safety management systems.
- Contribute to the development of technical standards, templates, and best practises within the discipline.
- Support business development activities by attending tender briefings, preparing tender documentation and method statements, assisting with pricing, and participating in marketing initiatives.
- Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and risk management throughout all project phases.
Person Specification
- Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Bachelor of Technology, or a National Diploma/National Higher Diploma in a relevant field.
- Possesses a minimum of 8 years’ experience in structural engineering.
- Is professionally registered with a recognised engineering institution.
- Exhibits excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead teams and engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- Demonstrates strong project management and leadership capabilities, ensuring successful project delivery while supporting business growth and maintaining rigorous quality and safety standards.
- Has sound knowledge of fundamental engineering principles within their discipline, as well as a working understanding of related disciplines to effectively manage multidisciplinary projects.
