Job Summary
CLIENT in the MINING INDUSTRY requires the service of a UNIT MANAGER ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING at their plant in the FREE STATE AREA as soon as possible
Minimum Required Qualification:
- Certificate in Mine Environmental control (MEC)
The Appointee should:
- • NQF 6 (Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma)
- • At least 5 years’ experience in a related role, of which 2 years should have been at a management level or experience in a functional/specialist area.
- Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of management systems and database formulation.
- Working knowledge of specialist Ventilation and Refrigeration computer simulation programs where required
- Training, via courses, formal training or practical experience in: Legislation, Management system formulation and implementation, Safety, Health and Environmental integration, Hazard identification and risk assessment
Advantageous Qualifications:
- Level 6: Diploma and Advanced Certificates National Diplomas and Advanced Certificates Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology
Additional Requirements:
- • Postgraduate qualification in Natural Sciences and Environmental Engineering would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ventilation & Occupational Hygiene Management • Manage environmental, occupational hygiene and radiation protection disciplines across the segment. • Establish sound engineering governance and principles. • Establish and control Environmental Engineering (Ventilation) Hygiene resources (e.g. instruments, equipment, systems, and staff. • Perform internal and external audits. • Oversee the operational status of the disciplines. • Implement new technology, systems and practices within the context of the Gold operational segment. • Maintaining technical excellence across the Gold segment discipline specific. • Implementation and evaluation of statutory COP's, SOP’s, and Managerial instructions regarding Ventilation Engineering and Occupational Hygiene. • Technical interpretation recommendation and reporting to the owner of the mine and relevant statutory organisations on Ventilation Engineering and Occupational Hygiene aspects. • Implement and evaluate monitoring programs and data management systems.
- Ventilation / Refrigeration Systems / Networks Design & Integration • Design optimal ventilation systems that support a zero-harm sustained production approach. • Optimise ventilation systems using computer simulation models). • Ensure that the ventilation / refrigeration models integrate into the current ventilation systems within the discipline. • Liaise with engineering team to optimise ventilation systems and improve reliability). • Develop strategies that would incorporate best practices into designs. • Conduct technical interpretations of new legislation, guidelines and directives in collaboration with key stakeholders. Sustainability • Manage the integration of Occupational Hygiene standards. • Incorporate relevant best practise standards. • Ensure that the department complies with new legislation, guidelines and directives. • Allocate the relevant resources to assist in executing of the relevant duties. • Assist in benchmarking standards against best in industry and influence the appropriate changes.
