Planning
Prepare a complete production plan weekly in advance, present and discuss with Management.
Organize, monitor and control staff, shift allocations and overtime. Manage overtime request
processes.
Optimize capacity planning and processes.
Manage staff requirements and direct the production team.
Maintain flexibility by managing the different projects and ensure their timeous delivery.
Act proactively by identifying, solving and/or reporting unforeseen challenges.
Drive process optimization and cost saving initiatives.
Liaise with the Plant manager on improvements in your section and drive to continuously improve the
efficiency of your department.
Report problems or situations to the Plant manager.
Production
Oversee the production process ensuring that the production is accurate, on time and cost effective.
Maintain production targets by ensuring that the required products are delivered daily.
Improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of organizations mission
specifically support better management reporting, information flow and management, business
process and organizational planning.
Effectively manage all product production processes.
Monitor, control and ensure completion of all daily tasks within the department.
Oversee QC in the department, quality assurance of materials and parts received and dispatched
Oversee the preventive maintenance of the equipment in your department and collaborate with the
maintenance department to ensure that equipment is serviced and maintained at all times.
Collaboration
Establish, enhance and maintain effective communication with 2IC’s, Quality Control/Assurance,
Logistics and other functional areas.
Manage and control monthly stock takes as well as daily and weekly cycle counts.
Log challenges on the Engineering Department reporting system and follow up.
Administration and Safety
Manage and report on safety, production, quality, budgets, manpower and industrial relations.
Create and ensure safe working conditions at all times.
Maintain discipline and adherence to company policies
Co-ordinate of different projects flexibly, efficiently and effectively.
Attend to and sign off all clock cards and process to payroll weekly.
Ensure general neatness and organization of the department.
Manage and address discipline and general work performance of employees within the department.
Manage and monitor tools within the department in liaison with the OHS Manager.
Responsible and accountable for all OHS matters within the department.
Manage performance, training and development of staff.
