Position Summary

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Marine Mechanic to join our growing marine service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining a wide range of marine engines and boating systems. A strong understanding of 2-stroke outboard engines across all major brands is essential.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent fault-finding skills, a strong work ethic, and a passion for the marine industry.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Repairs & Maintenance

• Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance on marine engines.

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and fuel system faults.

• Carry out engine overhauls and rebuilds when required.

• Complete pre-delivery inspections of boats and marine equipment.

• Test and commission repairs to manufacturer standards.

Engine Diagnostics

• Diagnose faults using mechanical knowledge and diagnostic equipment.

• Troubleshoot starting, performance, cooling, ignition, and fuel-related issues.

• Identify and rectify electrical and electronic faults.

Workshop Operations

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment.

• Complete job cards and service reports accurately.

• Record parts used and report additional repair requirements.

• Assist with stock control and workshop housekeeping.

Customer Service

• Explain technical findings and repair recommendations to customers.

• Provide professional advice regarding maintenance and care of marine equipment.

• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and workmanship quality.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic, Motor Mechanic, Marine Mechanic, or equivalent Trade Qualification.

• Valid driver's licence.

• Boat handling experience advantageous.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years' experience working on marine engines.

• Proven experience servicing and repairing outboard motors.

• Experience with both modern and older marine engine systems.

Essential Knowledge

• Other major marine engine brands
