The Red Seal Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing and maintaining vehicles and mechanical equipment to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation. The role requires strong technical expertise, adherence to safety standards and the ability to identify and resolve mechanical faults accurately.
Conduct routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on vehicles and mechanical equipment.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
Inspect engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering and other vehicle components.
Perform preventative maintenance and identify potential mechanical problems.
Repair or replace defective components and parts.
Conduct engine tune-ups, oil changes, brake repairs and general mechanical maintenance.
Perform road tests and inspections to verify that repairs have been completed correctly.
Complete job cards, inspection reports and maintenance records accurately.
Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications and safety requirements.
Maintain tools, workshop equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
Provide technical advice and recommendations regarding vehicle repairs and maintenance.
Identify additional repair requirements and communicate these to the relevant supervisor.
Ensure vehicles are returned in a safe and roadworthy condition.
Work effectively with other technicians, supervisors and operational teams.
Red Seal / Trade Certificate as a Motor Mechanic.
Grade 12 / Matric.
Proven experience as a qualified motor mechanic.
Valid driver's licence.
Experience with diagnostic equipment and automotive systems.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic vehicle systems.
Good fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and workshop specifications.
