As a Mid-Tier Database Administrator, you play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient management, security, and optimisation of the organisation’s SQL Server database environments. Your expertise in database management, SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), scripting, automation, performance tuning, and data security compliance is critical to maintaining a stable, high-performing data platform.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to meet business data requirements, ensure operational excellence, and document best practices. Your in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in database engineering contribute directly to the organisation’s reliability, scalability, and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
Key Deliverables
Database Management
· Manage and maintain SQL Server databases, ensuring high performance, availability, and security.
· Perform database upgrades, migrations, and patching as required.
· Monitor and optimise database performance, resolving issues to ensure optimal SSAS performance.
· Manage and coordinate scheduled jobs and related ETL processes to ensure on-time daily completion.
· Ensure daily backups are scheduled and completed successfully, and provide restore support when required.
SSAS Expertise
· Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) cubes and data models.
· Optimise SSAS queries and calculations to ensure efficient and fast data retrieval.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SSAS cube processing and data refresh cycles.
Scripting and Automation
· Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine database administration tasks.
· Create, maintain, and optimise T-SQL scripts for data manipulation, ETL processes, and reporting.
Performance Tuning
· Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across SQL Server databases and SSAS cubes.
· Implement effective indexing strategies, query optimisation techniques, and caching mechanisms to improve system performance.
Security and Compliance
· Implement and maintain database security policies, access controls, and data encryption standards.
· Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations related to data security and data privacy.
Qualifications & Experience
o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (preferred).
o 3–5 years’ experience in a database administration role.
o Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Certified Professional, or similar certifications preferred.
o Experience in both on-premises and cloud database environments is advantageous.
