Job Summary
The Sommelier will be responsible for maintaining and updating the lodge’s wine list, managing the wine room inventory, and ensuring quality control of all beverages. They will assist with the preparation and service of wine and drinks, confidently recommend pairings based on guest preferences, and uphold exceptional service standards.
Candidate Requirements:
- Certification as a Sommelier or a relevant degree in Hospitality.
- Proven experience as a Sommelier, Wine Steward, or in a similar role within a high-end lodge, resort, or fine-dining establishment.
- Strong knowledge of Southern African wines, wineries, and wine trends.
- Demonstrated ability to create thoughtful and balanced food and wine pairings.
- Previous experience working with a Point-of-Sale (POS) system is advantageous.
- Passionate about exceptional service and creating memorable guest experiences.
- Highly organised and able to multi-task in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
