About the Role

As a Tufting Machine Field Technician, you'll complete a structured, hands-on technical training programme to further develop your expertise in tufting machine operation, setup, maintenance, and optimization.

Following your training, you'll travel internationally for up to 70% of your time, supporting customers with the installation, commissioning, servicing, troubleshooting, and optimization of tufting machines.

You'll act as both a technical specialist and company representative, helping customers achieve optimal machine performance while building strong, long-term professional relationships.

What You'll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

• Participating in intensive technical training to develop specialist expertise in tufting machine operation, setup, maintenance, and optimization

• Travelling internationally to install, commission, service, and maintain tufting machines at customer sites

• Diagnosing and resolving technical issues through effective fault-finding, troubleshooting, and machine adjustments

• Supporting machine start-ups and service visits

• Providing professional technical support and guidance to customers

• Helping customers optimize machine performance and production efficiency

• Building and maintaining strong professional relationships with international customers

• Representing the company professionally while working at customer sites

• Collaborating with internal engineering and service teams to communicate technical findings, field observations, and customer feedback

• Identifying opportunities to improve machine reliability and performance

• Contributing recommendations that support continuous improvement and customer satisfaction

We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

• Proven experience with the installation, start-up, modification, servicing, or maintenance of tufting machines

• Strong technical interest and understanding of mechanical systems, electronics, and machine optimization

• Hands-on experience working with industrial machinery, equipment commissioning, or field service operations

• Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting and fault diagnosis

• The ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively manage priorities in fast-paced environments

• Strong communication and customer service skills

• The ability to build professional relationships across different cultures

• A self-motivated and adaptable approach

• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Advantageous Experience & Qualifications

• Technical qualification or background in Mechanical, Electromechanical, Textile Machinery, or a related field

• Knowledge of French, German, or Afrikaans

International Travel Requirements

This is a highly international position and candidates must be:

• Flexible and willing to travel internationally for extended periods

• Comfortable travelling for up to 70% of the role

• In possession of a valid passport

• Able to travel internationally without restrictions

• Comfortable working independently at customer sites across different countries and cultures
