INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ATTORNEY - JUNIOR
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Trademark Prosecution: Conducting searches, filing, and managing trademark portfolios.
- Patent Work: Assisting with patent searches, drafting, and navigating the patent application process.
- IP Transactions: Drafting licensing agreements, technology transfers, and confidentiality agreements.
- Litigation Support: Assisting with infringement cases, oppositions, and domain name disputes.
- Client Management: Advising clients on securing and enforcing intellectual property rights.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: An LLB degree is required, often with specialized courses in intellectual property law.
- Experience: 1-3 years of PQE (Post-Qualification Experience) as an associate in an IP firm or department.
- Registration: Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa is typically required.
- Specialization: Demonstrated interest in, or completion of, SAIIPL (South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law) exams is a major advantage.
- Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and excellent writing skills.
