Department: Operations
The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, assessing and managing refrigerated containers entering the depot, while overseeing mechanical and structural repairs and ensuring units are ready for dispatch.
Inspection & Estimation: Inspect and classify reefers, identify defects, complete CIRs and prepare accurate repair estimates.
Reefer Operations: Coordinate repairs, PTIs, washing and testing, ensuring reefers are compliant and ready for dispatch.
Temperature & Vent Settings: Ensure reefers are correctly configured according to client requirements before release.
Staff Supervision: Supervise and allocate tasks to reefer staff, manage rosters, leave and overtime, and ensure operational instructions are followed.
Safety & Housekeeping: Enforce PPE and safety procedures while maintaining a clean, safe and organised reefer bay.
Client Liaison: Liaise with clients, surveyors and internal departments regarding inspections, repairs, approvals and specific unit requirements.
Reporting: Ensure CIRs and related documentation are completed and submitted timeously, and provide management with regular updates on reefer operations and revenue.
Grade 12 / Matric.
Computer literate.
Relevant reefer-accredited training.
Minimum 5 years’ experience working with reefers.
Experience in reefer estimation and repair costing.
Valid Code 8 driver’s licence.
Strong technical and fault-finding skills.
Previous supervisory experience will be an advantage.
Willingness to work shifts in a 24-hour depot environment.
