Employer Description 5-Star Luxury Lodge Job Description Our client is seeking a hands-on, fit and healthy Lodge Manager who is energetic, visible and comfortable moving around the property and being actively involved in daily operations. The ideal candidate must have a firm and disciplined management style, with the confidence to enforce policies, procedures and service standards while holding staff accountable. Key Responsibilities: Take overall responsibility for the daily operations and performance of the lodge. Lead and coordinate Front Office, Guest Relations, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Kitchen and Maintenance departments. Conduct daily briefings, property inspections and operational readiness checks. Coordinate arrivals, departures, occupancy, special requests and departmental workloads. Ensure consistently high guest service standards and build strong relationships with guests. Manage guest complaints, service recovery and guest feedback across platforms such as GuestRevu and TripAdvisor. Monitor and maintain room, public area, dining and overall property standards. Manage operating budgets, forecasts, monthly P&L results and cost control. Oversee payroll, purchasing, stock, wastage, utilities, supplier performance, cash and billing controls. Work closely with Reservations and Sales to support occupancy, revenue, repeat business and profitability. Ensure high standards across Food & Beverage, including menu standards, dietary requirements, food hygiene and cost control. Oversee housekeeping, laundry, linen, amenities and room turnaround standards. Take responsibility for property maintenance, asset care, preventative maintenance and repairs. Lead recruitment, induction, rostering, performance management and staff development. Coach and develop departmental leaders while maintaining a positive, accountable team environment. Ensure compliance with health, safety, security, food safety and environmental procedures. Maintain emergency readiness and coordinate responses to operational incidents. Identify operational issues early, implement corrective action and ensure matters are followed through to resolution. Provide accurate monthly reporting covering financial performance, guest feedback, staffing, maintenance, incidents and priorities. Qualifications Matric is essential. Degree; National Diploma or Certificate in Hotel/Hospitality Management is essential. Minimum 5 years’ experience within a 5-star lodge or hotel environment. Previous hospitality management experience with responsibility across multiple departments is essential. Previous General Manager or Lodge Manager experience within a luxury safari lodge will be advantageous. Strong understanding of lodge operations Demonstrated experience managing operational and financial results. Experience with budgeting, cost control, stock management and interpreting operating results. Experience managing and developing hospitality teams. Proficiency in OPERA and Microsoft Office. Own reliable vehicle or suitable transport. Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays and respond to emergencies as required by the agreed roster. Experience using GuestRevu and TripAdvisor to manage guest feedback and reputation Skills Strong leadership and people-management skills. Excellent guest relations and customer service abilities.
