Are you an experienced cook with a strong background in Portuguese cuisine? We are looking for a versatile and experienced Cook to join our kitchen team based in the Roodepoort / Westgate area.

Please note: Experience preparing Portuguese cuisine is ESSENTIAL for this position.

Where You'll Make an Impact

• Prepare and cook a variety of menu items, with a strong focus on Portuguese cuisine, while also preparing pizza and other menu offerings.

• Prepare breakfast items, grilled meals, salads and other dishes according to established recipes, quality standards and presentation requirements.

• Apply authentic Portuguese cooking techniques and demonstrate a sound understanding of traditional Portuguese flavours, ingredients and dishes.

• Maintain consistency in food quality, portioning, taste and presentation across all menu items.

• Ensure the kitchen is maintained to high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety at all times.

• Assist with stock control, food preparation, receiving of stock and general kitchen operations.

• Work effectively with the kitchen and front-of-house team to ensure efficient service and a positive customer experience.

• Provide professional and friendly customer service when required.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' practical cooking experience in a restaurant, takeaway or similar food service environment.

• Proven practical experience preparing Portuguese cuisine is ESSENTIAL.

• Strong knowledge of traditional Portuguese dishes, ingredients, flavours and cooking methods.

• Experience preparing a variety of menu items, includingPortuguese dishes, grilled meals, breakfast items, salads and pizza.

• Ability to maintain consistent quality and presentation in a busy kitchen environment.

• Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards.

• Reliable, honest and responsible work ethic.

• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple kitchen requirements.

• Experience with Food Safety Management Systems.

• Experience working across a diverse menu in a busy restaurant or takeaway environment.
