Junior Pastry Sous Chef | Luxury Private Nature Reserve | Gansbaai Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a creative and passionate Junior Pastry Sous Chef for a luxury private nature reserve based in Gansbaai. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented pastry professional with strong fine dining experience to join a high-end culinary team delivering exceptional guest experiences in a luxury environment. The successful candidate will support the pastry and kitchen team in producing high-quality desserts, baked goods, and plated pastries, while maintaining consistently high standards of presentation, creativity, and hygiene. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation and presentation of all pastry and dessert items Support the development of new dessert menus and seasonal offerings Ensure high standards of taste, presentation, and consistency at all times Assist with bakery production including breads, pastries, and plated desserts Maintain strict hygiene, health, and safety standards in the pastry section Support stock control, ordering, and minimising waste Assist in training and guiding junior kitchen staff where required Ensure smooth daily pastry operations within a busy kitchen environment Requirements: Formal culinary qualification with a pastry focus advantageous Previous experience in a pastry or kitchen role within a luxury lodge, hotel, or fine dining environment Strong knowledge of pastry techniques and dessert preparation High attention to detail and presentation standards Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen Strong teamwork and communication skills Passion for pastry, baking, and culinary creativity Package: Salary: R17,000 – R22,000 depending on experience Live-out position Additional Information: Staff accommodation is available in town, approximately 10 minutes from the property Accommodation ranges between R3,000 and R3,500 per month Candidates who meet the above requirements and are interested in this opportunity are invited to submit their CV for consideration.
