Job Overview

We are looking for a fully registered Safety Officer to join a wind farm construction project on a 2 to 3-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for enforcing health and safety compliance across all site activities, including turbine installation, civil works, and electrical operations. SACPCMP registration is essential, and CHSO certification will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and enforce site-specific Health & Safety Management Plans
• Conduct risk assessments related to wind farm activities (working at heights, lifting operations, electrical works)
• Monitor compliance with OHSA, construction regulations, and environmental requirements
• Perform daily site inspections, audits, and safety walkabouts
• Oversee safe execution of high-risk activities (crane lifts, turbine erection, confined spaces)
• Facilitate toolbox talks, inductions, and ongoing safety training
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and compile detailed reports
• Ensure proper use of PPE and fall protection systems
• Maintain all safety documentation and ensure audit readiness
• Liaise with contractors, engineers, and site management on safety matters

Minimum Requirements

• Valid SACPCMP registration as a Safety Officer (non-negotiable)
• National Diploma or relevant qualification in Occupational Health & Safety
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in construction safety (renewable energy or infrastructure preferred)
• Strong knowledge of OHSA and Construction Regulations
• Experience working on large-scale or multi-contractor sites
• Excellent communication, leadership, and reporting skills

Advantageous

• CHSO (Construction Health and Safety Officer) certification
• Previous experience on wind farm or renewable energy projects
• Working at Heights certification
• Fall Protection Planner/Competent Person certification
• First Aid Level 1–3
• Crane and lifting operations safety experience
