- Grade 12 with a Diploma or Degree in Marketing/Sales/Communications Management or relevant field
- At least 5-7 years’ sales management experience within a manufacturing environment
- Background in plastics industry/ manufacturing industry beneficial
- Willing and able to travel in and around Gauteng on a regular basis
- Must have experience with dealing with Senior Management
- Deep understanding of negotiating techniques and sales tactics
- Experienced with a number of systems (Syspro, Microsoft – Intermediate, Excel Advanced, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license. (Unendorsed) with own reliable vehicle
- Must be well presented and professional
- Able to cultivate strong multi-player relationships
DUTIES :
- Develop, set and execute sales strategies and market plans to fulfil targets and deliver maximum margin, in line with the Business Unit strategy and targets
- Identify improvements to commercial procedures as and when necessary
- Communicate the strategy and its objectives to the sales team
- Monitor and analyze market and competitor activity, trends and demands, and ensure action plans are implemented
- Take responsibility for achieving set sales objectives and operational costs targets
- Take responsibility for the commercial performance of all products/product ranges
- Ensure up to date market research and appropriate information on target markets and new opportunities
- Monitor competition, economic indicators, and industry trends
- Develop strategic initiatives and sales plans to grow the sales footprint and manage the sales function nationally
- Diversify sales into different markets/segments/geographies
- Generate sales leads
- Create and maintain a structure for the sales team to confidently operate within, enabling a structured sales process and proactive sales
- Ensure an understanding of business issues, processes and outcomes within the sales team to enhance business performance
- Establish and uphold a structured sales process and make sure that conscious and proactive decisions are taken throughout the process
- Set sales policy, sales handbook or similar for the sales team – or implement company’s set policies and practices
- Ensure efficient allocation of tasks and resources in order to improve sales performance
- Ensure a systematic approach through segmentation in order to identify new customers and sales potential with current customers
- Secure a systematic approach for documenting and updating customer information and sales activities
- Prepare and confirm that product & service packages are available and that the sales team has the prerequisite to sell its content
- Promote and work within Operating Standards to ensure uniform quality standards in the sales team
- Manage Sales budget in line with production team, based on production capacity
- Analyses sales data on sales results and develop plans to address performance gaps
- Ensure ComCom (and other relevant) legislative compliance
