Job Summary
Luxury Hotel Boutique Hotel situated in Franschhoek, Cape Winelands area requires a Pastry Chef This role is responsible for executing flawless, artisan-quality pastries, baked goods, and desserts that delight discerning resident guests and fine-dining day visitors. Working closely with the senior culinary leadership, the successful candidate will assist in menu innovation, maintain strict inventory control, and ensure every plate reflects the highest international standards of luxury presentation and consistency. Main Responsibilities Baking & Pastry Execution: Prepare a wide variety of high-quality pastries, desserts, and other baked goods for the restaurant menu. Menu Development Support: Assist the Pastry Chef with developing new and exciting pastry and dessert options for seasonal menus and special events. Plating & Presentation: Ensure that all pastries and desserts are presented to the highest standard, maintaining consistency in taste, appearance, and portion control. Quality Assurance: Assist in overseeing the freshness and quality of ingredients used in pastry preparation. Trend & Ingredient Testing: Assist in developing and testing new pastry and dessert menu items, considering seasonal organic ingredients, customer preferences, and global trends. Event Collaboration: Work with the Pastry Chef and Head Chef on special bespoke menus for private events, promotions, and seasonal changes. Inventory & Cost Control: Assist with managing the inventory of pastry ingredients and supplies, ensuring optimal stock levels are maintained and wastage is minimized. Experience and Skills Luxury Track Record: Similar proven experience within a 5-star Hotel and/or fine-dining restaurant environment. Technical Mastery: Exceptional knowledge of modern and classic pastry techniques, baking, and dessert preparation. Commercial Awareness: Practical understanding of inventory management and cost-control awareness. Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Creative Flair: Outstanding creative and artistic skills, with a true passion for developing unique pastries and desserts. Inherent Requirements Education: Matric Certificate. Qualifications: Diploma or certification in Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
