POSITION: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST (AGRI)
1.1 Role summary
The Business Development Specialist will be expected to expand the organisation’s footprint across the
Agricultural sector, focussed on sales and marketing of medical scheme and financial services
solutions, tailored for the niche industry. The role entails development of new business opportunities,
build strong relationships with prospective corporate clients, manage relationships within the broker
and employer space, in promotion of increasing sales, and brand expansion. The success of this role
will include the nett growth of the membership across targeted industries and specific Health Squared
Medical Scheme and Agility products.
? Maintain and develop relationships with existing and potential corporate employers while actively
promoting organic growth and cross-selling initiatives
? Ability to build lasting relationships with industry associations, decision makers and brokers within the
? Weekly meetings at employer groups, including prospective businesses and industry-focussed
? Identify new employer groups for the purpose of selling medical scheme and employee benefit
? Understanding risks at groups (other broker involvement, unions, pending retrenchments, etc.).
? Weekly reporting to Executive team
? Continuous client engagements through presentations and training sessions held on-site at
? Consistent evaluation of sales and retention techniques, i.e. member information, member contact,
broker contact and channels by which industry footprint is enhanced
? Actively endeavour to avoid any member loss and pro-actively identify risks re member loss and
devise and implement plans to mitigate such risks
? Positioning of the products within niche industries for successful new business conversion.
1.3 Minimum requirements
1.3.1 Qualifications -
? RE 5 (essential minimum)
? Business related tertiary qualification (clinical qualifications will be beneficial)
1.3.2 Experience -
? Minimum 5 years’ sales experience in a Healthcare or financial services sectors
1.3.3 Other Requirements -
? Willing and able to travel extensively, including overnight trips
? Own reliable vehicle, which maintains the desired professional company image
? Convey a highly professional, positive appearance in general.
