An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Financial Reconciliation Manager to join a growing organisation operating across multiple business units. This high-impact role is ideal for a finance professional who combines strong technical accounting expertise with leadership capability and a continuous improvement mindset.
Working closely with senior leadership, you will take ownership of group-wide reconciliation processes, strengthen financial governance, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of key balance sheet accounts. The successful candidate will play a critical role in enhancing reporting quality, improving controls, and supporting the organisation's overall financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reconciliations & Balance Sheet Governance
- Oversee and review all balance sheet reconciliations across the group.
- Ensure reconciliations are completed accurately and within strict monthly reporting deadlines.
- Manage reconciliations relating to bank accounts, debtors, creditors, intercompany balances, loans, interest, accruals, prepayments, suspense accounts, and fixed assets.
- Investigate reconciliation discrepancies and ensure outstanding items are resolved timeously.
- Perform root-cause analysis on recurring issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Financial Controls & Compliance
- Strengthen financial controls and ensure adherence to governance frameworks and reporting standards.
- Maintain reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
- Review annual financial statements, tax calculations, and supporting financial workings.
- Monitor key balance sheet accounts and ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
- Support both internal and external audit processes and facilitate the implementation of audit recommendations.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Drive process improvement, standardisation, and automation initiatives across the finance function.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, efficiency, and control effectiveness.
- Streamline reconciliation processes and reduce manual intervention where possible.
- Support finance transformation projects aimed at enhancing business performance and scalability.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Partner with finance and operational teams to improve reporting quality and financial governance.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across multiple business units.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to management on reconciliation and control-related matters.
- Lead, mentor, and develop finance team members while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Qualified CA(SA) (essential).
- Relevant Finance or Accounting Degree.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Financial Management.
- Minimum 3 years' experience within a reconciliation, reporting, financial control, or similar finance environment.
- Experience working within a multi-entity or group reporting structure will be advantageous.
- Proven leadership and people management experience.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of reconciliations, financial controls, and risk management principles.
- Experience reviewing financial statements and tax computations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exposure to process optimisation, finance transformation, or automation projects advantageous.
- Advanced financial reporting and reconciliation expertise.
