A leading organisation within the property sector is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function across a dynamic and growing group of companies. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, ensuring the integrity of reporting, strengthening governance frameworks, and providing financial insight that supports business growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Lead and oversee the full finance function across multiple entities within the group.
- Drive month-end and year-end reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to strict deadlines.
- Review and approve journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
- Prepare and review consolidated financial reports and management accounts.
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial information.
Treasury, Compliance & Governance
- Oversee treasury operations, cash flow management, and working capital optimisation.
- Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE, income tax, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Manage annual audit processes and coordinate the preparation of annual financial statements.
- Maintain strong financial controls and governance frameworks across the business.
- Monitor financial risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
Budgeting & Strategic Planning
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Develop board packs, shareholder reports, and executive-level financial presentations.
- Provide meaningful financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Partner with senior leadership on growth initiatives, investment decisions, and business performance improvement.
Process Improvement & Financial Controls
- Develop, implement, and enhance finance policies, procedures, and internal control frameworks.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and financial governance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes and systems.
- Strengthen risk management and compliance practices throughout the organisation.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop Finance Managers, Financial Accountants, and the Creditors team.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support succession planning and professional development within the finance team.
- Ensure effective workload management and resource allocation across the department.
Requirements
Qualifications
- CA(SA) qualification (essential).
Experience
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience leading the full finance function in a Financial Controller or Finance Manager capacity.
- Proven experience within a complex, multi-entity environment.
- Property industry experience will be highly advantageous.
- Strong exposure to consolidations, group reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
Technical Skills
- Proven MDA experience (essential).
- Strong knowledge of:

- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
