This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the full finance function while working closely with senior stakeholders. The successful candidate will contribute to financial reporting, compliance, reconciliations, budgeting, and business performance analysis, ensuring the organisation maintains strong financial controls and operational excellence.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Financial Reporting & Accounting

• Compile accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
• Verify the completeness and accuracy of financial records and transactions
• Perform reconciliations across multiple sites and cost centres

Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable

• Oversee day-to-day creditor and debtor activities
• Reconcile customer and supplier accounts
• Manage outstanding balances and assist with collection processes
• Ensure supplier payments are processed accurately and timeously

Planning, Budgets & Forecasts

• Support the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts
• Monitor actual performance against budget
• Investigate and explain financial variances to management

Treasury & Cash Flow

• Monitor cash positions and banking activities
• Prepare and review bank reconciliations
• Assist in managing working capital and cash flow requirements
• Support cash planning initiatives

Regulatory Compliance & Tax

• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting principles and internal policies
• Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns
• Assist during external audit processes and provide supporting documentation
• Maintain accurate records for compliance purposes

Management Reporting & Financial Analysis

• Deliver meaningful financial insights and management reports
• Analyse trends, performance metrics, and business costs
• Identify opportunities for improved efficiencies and cost savings
• Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis

Governance & Internal Controls

• Maintain effective financial controls and procedures
• Ensure accurate record management and document retention
• Assist in identifying and mitigating financial and operational risks

Success Measures

Your performance will be measured against:

• Accuracy and reliability of financial reporting
• Timely month-end and year-end close processes
• Compliance with statutory and reporting deadlines
• Quality and resolution of reconciliations
• Effective management of cash flow
• Successful audit outcomes and reduced audit findings

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• BCom Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Completed Articles (3 years)

Experience

• 2–3 years of post-article accounting experience
• Proven experience with financial reporting and account reconciliations
• Exposure to ERP or accounting systems such as Sage, SAP, Syspro, Oracle, Pastel, or similar

Advantageous

• Professional affiliation or registration with SAICA, SAIPA, ACCA, or CIMA
